MIBN Upgrading Member Communication System

MIBN Utilizes New Technology to Improve Communication to Members

May 21, 2008 -   Moms In Business Network is now implementing text messaging and as part of its new member communication platform.

All members of MIBN are now being urged to update their accounts to choose text messaging alerts as an option, or alternative, to email event invitations.

Due to the overwhelming amount of email and spam that many people receive and the fact that many MIBN are busy executive moms on the go, text messaging important alerts is one way the organization is upgrading their member communication outreach.

"We have many teleconferences and meetings which members can access information and expert advice, but getting through all the email clutter has been difficult...even when are members want our emails.", states Gina Robison-Billups, president and founder of Moms In Business Network.   "Half the time they either don't get their emails, inadvertantly delete them, or they don't have time to read them.  We then receive complaints from members that they don't know what's going on.  We're caught in a communication Catch 22 and the only way out is using new technology and old-fashioned customer service."

The text messaging event alert system is not the only method that MIBN is using to communicate to its members.  The organization has a 10 point plan that includes the use of multiple technologies including the MIBN website, the website private messaging system, a printed newsletter mailed only to members, member-connection conference calls, email and text messaging.

With the new communication platforms, MIBN is doing something virtually unheard of in marketing and communication.  MIBN is reducing the frequency of their email blasts and has all but eliminated their free online newsletter.  The theory behind this is based on one of the premises of the organization- to simplify the lives of its members.  "Many hours are taken in crafting a weekly newsletter, and results haven't been seen to justify the time taken.  Our members are having difficulty taking the time to read all the emails they get, and another newsletter just ends up going into to trash if it ever makes it through at all.", says Robison-Billups.   "Our time and our member's time is valuable, so we're taking steps to make the most of it."
